Great escape

I took a day off today. I had a headache last night, and I was feeling bad this morning as well. However, I did go fishing anyway.

I first caught a small bass with a Gilmore Large Jumper before the sun rose. The bite was almost the same as the lure got to water.

 

I fished with a headache, and was thinking to go home as soon as I finished fishing this pond. I may have been lacking in concentration, and dropped this fish!
 

As you can see in the last slo-mo part of the video, this fish showed a great escape. It shook the head over the water, and admirably unhooked. The fish won, and I lost.

I caught a few more bass, but all were small. I couldn't continue fishing due to the headache, and I took a snap in my car. Now, I'm feeling much better.

Too many fishers on Sundays

I almost always try to go fishing on Saturdays, because I see much more fishermen on Sundays. Most ponds I recently fish in are so small that I don't like to fish together with strangers at the same time.

I had some chores yesterday (Saturday), and couldn't go fishing. Today, I decided to go fishing and got up early in the morning. When I was trying to start fishing in a pond and inflating my floating tube, cars of fishermen came to the same pond one after another. I was discouraged and made up my mind to head my car to another one. I visited the second pond for the first time in these two months, and in the meantime a lot of Canadian pondweed were growing there. I had only a few weedless-type lures with me today, so I had a hard time to fish there.

I caught a small bass with a Chugger Spook in the half-light, but no fish followed after it. And what was worse, one of my fins was broken. I left the pond before 07:00 AM feeling so frustrated.

Two days in a row

It was too hot and humid last night, and I couldn't sleep well. We had some rain in the midnight, so I decided to go fishing again early this morning. Due to the typhoon, I expected stormy weather and I put more prop lures than usual in my tackle box.

When I started fishing, it was calm and windless. Nevertheless, I used prop baits most of the time today. When it was still dark, I chose a Wounded Spook in black shore color, and it worked fine.

About 30% of the pond was covered with floating vegetation, and I also fished with a weedless mouse lure (Snag Proof Moss Mouse). Another nice bass grabbed the mouse deep in its mouth. I had a hard time to catch it, as the fish dived into weeds, but I could finally caught it.

Some more small bass entertained my lures, Heddon SOS, Pico Slasher, and so on. I could get my kicks from today's fishing. Unfotunately, I left a SD card of my better camera in my house today, so I had to use spare ones, but I can remind all the blow-ups in my brain.

Another typhoon

Another one is now approaching, and according to the weather forecast it may hit our area.

I have chores today, but I could spare a couple of hours and went daytime fishing. Fish were too slow, and I got no reactions at all. I almost gave up catching a bass today, and decided to go home before it got dark.

Then, when I shot a look shallow area from a distance, I found something like a caudal fin on the water surface. I thought it would be a carp, but quietly long-cast a pencil bait just in case of a bass. I waited until all the ripples went out, and slowly started a dog-walk action. All at once, my bait got snatched away, and I set a hook before I knew it. The fish soon jumped out of water, and it was a bass, not a carp! It was bigger than I thought, and fought hard. This totally unexpected bass made me so happy today.

Before Typhoon Lionrock comes

Make hay before Typhoo Lionrock hits here.

I started fishing at 04:40 AM, and I could barely see where I cast my lure. I long-cast my favorite Zara Spook (CHT), which is very visible even under low light condition, gave it a long pause, and let it dog-walk. A big blow-up occurred just as I imagined, and I set a hook hard. I saw so many timbers and branches around the point I fished that I tried to reel at a rush, but the fish tried to dive into a small area among branches. I forced to pull it closer using my rod, and could finally catch it. It had already dawned, but I had to use light and flash to take pictures.

Then, I fished around floating vegetation, and caught one more bass with a Chugger Spook. This fish closed in on my lure from a distance, and bit it without thinking twice.

Today, I wanted to catch a bass on a Hula Popper, but it didn't work fine. I just enjoyed taking pictures if it.

When I finished fishing almost all the spots in the pond and was about to go home, another nice bass hit my Lucky 13. This fish dived straight down at it just near me, so I got a little upset, but set a hook without a thought. It was today's biggest one, and another hard fighter.

Nothing to complain

For the first time in two weeks

I went fishing for the first time in two weeks.

In the first pond, a few active fish played with my baits. My Thunder Mac (it's a big lure!) got brushed aside and completely popped from the water, but I couldn't hook it. I wanted a second chance, but in vain. Then, I headed the innermost part of the pond, and cast a Zara Spook. A nice bass furiously tried to bite it three times, and I could set a hook in the third time. It was a good fighter, full of energies.

I got some more hits, but caught no more bass. I could spare time this morning, and decided to visit another pond. The pond is located in a mountain area and has clearer water. Two years ago, most of the water in it had gone, so I was wondering if fish were still there.

It seems I worried unnecessarily. I got many bites, and caught a lot of bass. I like the greenish body color of the bass in this pond very much, which is very different from those around my place. I spent more time than I expected, and had a lot of fun in this pond.
