The smallest spinning reels of ABU

I know many fishers like ABU Cardinal spinning reels, especially Cardinal 3 and 33. You may think these two reels are the smallest of ABU spinning reels, but you have to remember Cardinal 52 series (52, 152, 752, 752FC, etc.). The green 752 is my first Cardinal reel. I bought it about 25 years ago when I traveled in the US, and have caught many kinds of many fish with it. I also like the black 752 and 52. I recently got another, 752FC in NM in box condition. This is very similar to 752, but comes with a Fast Cast bail lever for easy and accurate casts. A revolutionary reel made in Japan.

The design of eyes is everything

As titled, the expression of lures depends almost entirely on the eyes.

I prefer small, off-centered pupils.

I like these humorous eyes, too.

2 losses and 0 wins

It's a holiday here, and I went fishing for a brief instant of time during early in the morning. It was warm and I hoped to catch a fish, but got skunked again. Only a good news was that I saw a big bass swimming around a shallow area in the pond where I fished, though it showed no interest to my lure. Anyway, I seldom catch a fish in March, so I'd like to try to think this is a pre-season game.

I read an article of Zara Spook and tried this lure.
My favorite Chugger Spook didn't work, either.
Heddon Game Fisher, an old wood lure

Today's tackle: ABU Record 5000 (BLK), Phillipson Challenger (9055 rebuilt), Stren 14lb (clear/blue fluorescent), Heddon Chugger Spook, Zara Spook, Lucky 13, Game Fisher, etc.

First fishing, only the early March

It's been very warm this weekend, so last night I decided to go out for fishing on Sunday morning. I reeled new lines on three of my reels, picked up some lures, and checked the waders in a big rush. One of the reels I wanted to use is ABU 5000CDL. I recently got a pair of new side plates (w/ beveled rims) to replace, and totally overhauled it. It looks much more beautiful than before, even looks almost new.

It was really warm as predicted, and I could enjoy fishing without gloves. The pond I visited has much water, and the water quality was good. However..., fish were still inactive. I got no bites at all, and got skunked. Anyway, I felt happy to be on the water again this fishing season. The reel worked extremely smoothly, and I felt no problems at, about casting at least. Hope to catch a fish next time.

Today's tackle:
ABU 5000CDL (plates replaced), Phillipson 3M F562, Stren 14lb (Hi Vis Gold), Zara Spook, Chugger Spook, Original Zara Spook, 210, Lucky 13, Hoodler, Bass Oreno, etc.

Studio Ocean Mark Custom Handle

When I visited a fishing tackle shop near my place last week, I found they sell these strong custom handles at half price. Today, I jogged to the shop again (about 8km far from my house), and picked one up for my reel. This product is a handle made by Studio Ocean Mark, and according to their website, these handles for baitcasting reels are already discontinued. I'm afraid this i0s a little heavy -armed for bass fishing, but am hoping good for saltwater fishing. It was a real good buy.

Wow, I've got to go get this book.
