Swimming in the sea

We took our daughters and dog to the sea. We enjoyed a lot in a clear beautiful water.

All were small

The rainy season finally ended last Monday, and here comes the mid-summer. I got up at 02:50 AM, and it was a sweltering night.
As I hoped, the water condition was recovered, but all that got interested in my lures were small fish. I didn't count accurately, but I fished 8-10 of them. Only once, I got a good bite with big splash, but I couldn't hook the fish.

I retrieved a poor drowning beetle from the water. It flew to the sky after the wings got dry. I didn't see bass eat this kind of insect in this pond. Most bass I caught had potbelly (though they're small), and I guess their present main food is small fish and crawfish.

After I'm home, I jogged 16 km (about 10 miles) around my house under the blazing sun. Very tired!

Today's tackle:
ABU Record Ambassadeur 5000, Fenwick HMG GFC-60, Daiwa #5 line (Clear), Heddon Chugger Spook, Zara Spook, Smithwick Wood Chug, Mann's Hardworm (prop), Harrison Bass Frog, etc.

Hats

Another collection of mine is hats and caps. I've recently bought three for myself, all are from OR, Outdoor Research. I'm glad to receive them before midsummer.

Drove far

I took a day off today and drove far to find clearer water. I fished long from very early in the morning, but this (see the pics below) was the only fish I caught. I cast my Zara Spook (VRB) to the spot with reeds and wooden piles near shore, and when I gave it a few dog walks, the water surface splashed. I thought it would be a small fish, but the fight was harder than I expected. It was a nice bass about 16 inches long, 2 lb class bass. I got another hit with a Scum Frog on a weed bed, but I could not catch it.

On the way back from fishing, traffic was hell and I got extremely tired.

Today's tackle:
ABU Ambassadeur 5500CA, Fenwick HMG Iron Hawk Graphite (HFC-555), Daiwa #5 line (Clear), Heddon Original Zara Spook, Chugger Spook, Cordell Boy Howdy, Red Fin, Mann's Hard Worm (prop), etc.

Milk coffee

Heavy rains hit our area yesterday, and I could not go fishing yesterday. Today, I went to some ponds around my place to see how the water changed. As I was afraid, the water changed to milk coffee. I tried fishing, but got skunked.

Today's tackle:
ABU Record Ambassadeur 5000, Fenwick SP634 (custom-built), Daiwa 14lb (clear), Heddon Lucky 13, Chugger Spook, Meadow Mouse, Smithwick Wood Chug, etc.

Another ABU reel

As you can see from the scans, the color of red of this reel is very dark, and I can say it is the darkest among my red ABU reels. I feel like using this old reel in my next fishing, and have just assembled a power handle on it, but I'm also feeling it's too much of a bother to reel a new line on the spool. I'm wondering what color of line to choose??
