I went float-tube fishing during this weekend for the first time in this season. As I presumed, I got no bites and could see no fish at all. Anyway, it's good to feel the rhythm of fishing during this season of the year.
I also started rigging my kayak saltwater fishing. Yesterday, I made a flag with my wife's help. I used an old inner-line fishing rod and attached a piece of red cloth on the top of it. I inserted wire along two sides of the cloth so that the flag can keep the shape even under calm condition. I'd like to make a radar reflector later and hang it under the flag with a swivel.
A big laundry pinch can be used as a paddle hanger. I also made removable scupper plugs with urethane material. I got some rubber bands and coils, too, and would like to use them as leash codes. I almost completed rigging my kayak, but have not decided which tackle box and cooler box to go with. It's a lot of fun to rig to make it my own.

New PFD
I'm good at swimming, but I make it a rule to wear a PFD (Personal Floating Device) when I fish. I've used and will keep using inflatable ones during hot seasons, but I wanted to have a floating-cushion one for my kayak fishing as well as for floating tube fishing especially in cooler seasons. This week, I bought a new one, MTI's Dorado.
I didn't like to wear it as it was, so I worked on it today. At first, I sawed an old Heddon patch on it. This vest is one of the high-tech ones, but does it look old-fashined with the patch?
It has a holder for a pliers, but the end part was open. I attached protection cover so that the tips of pliers will not damage anything.
I also rigged an emergency whistle, line cutter, and boat knife, though I may put them in my tackle box when I fish from my kayak.

Just finished.

Ready to go
It's a warm Sunday. I decided to clean and wax my canoe. It has plenty of scratches on the body and I couldn't remove most of them by waxing. Someday, I'd like to sand and overpaint on it. I also removed old decals of the sides and replaced them to new ones that I got years ago from my US friend. They look very nice, as at least the decals are new.

A new toy
I got a new toy, sit-on-top kayak. It's much lighter than my Canadian canoe, and good for solo-fishing. I'm looking forward to fishing on it in this coming spring.
